Frauenkirche Dresden
|
After 12 years of reconstruction, the Cathedral of Dresden (Church of Our Lady - Frauenkirche) was consecrated on October 30, 2005. The church had been destroyed and burned out during the air raid on Dresden on February 13, 1945. Müller-BBM´s office in Dresden provided the acoustic planning for this unique and in many aspects demanding construction, as well as the room acoustic planning for the basement. The cathedral will serve as church and as venue for concerts; furthermore, as an attraction for tourists, visitors can climb the tower for a view overlooking Dresden. For each of these purposes the constructional preconditions were to be created in order to shield the interior from disturbing noise as much as possible. The demand for careful integration of the noise protection measures on windows, doors and interior glazing offered a special challenge, since the structural fabric of the church was reconstructed exactly true to the archaeological original. |
